Malaysian’s Opinion on the National Infrastructure
CCIFM Member Ipsos has just released the following data – Malaysian’s Opinion on the National Infrastructure
The findings from the study reveal:
- Only half of the Malaysians are satisfied with our national infrastructure.
- Malaysians generally have lower confidence at the quality of the infrastructure compared to other SEA countries.
- Malaysians believe that we need to do more to improve national infrastructure, with greater investment.
"Our latest survey shows that only half of Malaysians are satisfied with our national infrastructure, and we are the lowest in the region. Malaysians show lower satisfaction with the quality of infrastructure, especially flood defense, with only two out of five Malaysians are satisfied with it. This may be due to the unexpected and extreme weather events in recent years, highlighting the urgent need to further enhance the flood defense system.
While interest in electric vehicles (EVs) is growing, Malaysians' satisfaction with EV infrastructure remains low at just 49%. With the anticipated removal of fuel subsidies in 2025 and increased environmental awareness, there is potential for growth in the EV market, offering a strategic opportunity for the government to invest in and improve the relevant infrastructure.
A majority of Malaysians agree that there is a shortfall in the nation's infrastructure development and that more investment, even if it means higher taxes, is necessary for improvement. The government must build public confidence in its future infrastructure plans to ensure Malaysia remains competitive and keeps pace with neighboring countries.”
